Detling Hill is the most easterly G/SE summit. Drive-on access with good facilities for portable operation.

Leith Hill is Surrey’s highest point with a Gothic tower raising it above 1,000 feet. Pleasant woodland walking. Final summit of a productive weekend trip.

Chanctonbury Ring is an Iron Age hillfort crowned with beech trees. Easy South Downs walk with historical interest. Good operating spot among the trees.

Cliffe Hill near Lewes has a trig point beside a golf course putting green. Quick activation recommended. Approach via Week Lane bridleway.

Ditchling Beacon is the highest point in East Sussex with Iron Age hillfort remains. Drive-on summit but very busy weekends. Quick VHF activation.

Firle Beacon on the South Downs Way offers easy walking from the Bostal car park. Good HF conditions but VHF proved difficult. Spring lambs at the summit.

Wilmington Hill overlooks the Long Man of Wilmington chalk figure. Pleasant walking through farm fields to the trig point. Quick HF activation on 20m SSB.

Disgwylfa Fawr in the Pumlumon area offers remote Welsh hillwalking with Cambrian Mountain views. Steep ascent, cairn summit. VHF activation with handheld.

Allt yr Esgair near Llangorse is an Iron Age hillfort summit with Roman road access. Superb views to the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons.

Gwaunceste Hill in Radnor Forest offers quiet walking in Mid Wales. Northern approach via bridleway to the trig point. Cold winter activation on 2m FM.
